About the Role

As the Australia Region Risk Manager, you will play a crucial role in identifying, evaluating and managing project risks while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and industry standards. This position requires a blend of risk management expertise, negotiation skills and leadership capabilities. You will work closely with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders to implement effective risk mitigation strategies and optimize project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Contract Negotiations: Engage in contract negotiations to secure necessary protections and utilize risk transfer, risk retention and insurance techniques aligned with business objectives.
2. Risk Financing Strategies: Develop alternative risk financing strategies in response to client requirements and project needs.
3. Contractual Compliance: Review contracts and bid documents to ensure adequacy and accuracy regarding responsibility, liability and insurance matters.
4. Risk Evaluation: Identify and evaluate risks associated with project activities, recommending appropriate risk financing alternatives.
5. Team Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to Deputy Risk Manager, Administrative Assistants and clerical staff as needed.
6. Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective communication and relationships with clients, insurance providers and company representatives.

Qualifications and Skills

• Professional experience in risk management or insurance including knowledge of risk, liability, finance and insurance principles.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Strong negotiation and contractual administration skills.
• Familiarity with Bechtel’s risk appetite, insurance arrangements and project risk considerations.
• Understanding of complex insurance programs such as builder’s risk insurance and controlled insurance programs.
• Australian working rights without employer sponsorship.
