BSN SPORTS is currently seeking a motivated Soft Collections Specialist to join our dynamic team in the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) area. This position plays a crucial role in our operations, as the Soft Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing collections on assigned accounts with a focus on maintaining positive relationships and ensuring timely payments.

Reporting directly to the Collections Supervisor, the Soft Collections Specialist will handle various tasks related to collections management including:

  1. Conducting research and reconciliation of open Accounts Receivable (AR) to identify and resolve past due invoices.
  2. Initiating collections of past due items through telephone calls and emails to reduce outstanding balances.
  3. Effectively managing a high volume of inbound and outbound calls related to collections activities.
  4. Documenting all collection activities thoroughly and following up until final resolution is achieved.
  5. Negotiating payment arrangements with customers to facilitate timely payments and reduce delinquencies.
  6. Building and maintaining positive business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Identifying opportunities for process improvements and communicating them to relevant teams.
  8. Participating in special projects and other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a customer service environment with a proven track record of reducing past due balances using a soft collection approach.
  2. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  3. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
  4. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple accounts and tasks simultaneously.
  5. Strong problem solving abilities to address complex collection issues effectively.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with both external customers and internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred for the Soft Collections Specialist position:

  1. Strong background in customer service, particularly in handling payment transactions over the phone.
  2. A college degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration or Finance.
  3. Experience using collection management software such as High Radius or SAP programs.
